VinFast has announced that July 28, 2023, is the date for the groundbreaking ceremony for its new EV factory in North Carolina.
VinFast North Carolina EV Factory is First in State
The new VinFast EV factory in North Carolina is notable for several reasons including that it’s the first EV factory in the state. It will be built at the Triangle Innovation Point in Chatham County, North Carolina. As of now, VinFast says it has received basic permits to begin Phase 1 construction. When complete, the facility will cover about 1,800 acres and help generate thousands of new jobs. The factory will include production and assembly areas as well as supplementary supplier businesses. VinFast says the factory is expected to start production in 2025. Furthermore, on the topic of production, the company says the factory is designed to produce 150,000 vehicles yearly in Phase 1. Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy, CEO of VinFast Auto, says that the plant will be VinFast’s primary supplier of electric vehicles to the U.S.
Factory Incentives and Financial Support
In 2022, the State of North Carolina awarded VinFast a $1.2 billion incentive package for the project. Moreover, financial support came from the City of Sanford, North Carolina, Chatham County, and the Golden Leaf Foundation.
VinFast Is Accelerating its Business and Brand Recognition
VinFast is accelerating its business and brand recognition in the U.S. One part of its plan is by expanding its retail store and service center system. Another part is by organizing local test drives of VinFast vehicles and by displaying its products at events throughout California.
