Tesla Cybertruck Rolls Off the Assembly Line

Tesla Cybertruck Rolls Off the Assembly Line

Tesla has finally produced its first Cybertruck, the futuristic electric pickup truck that was unveiled in 2019. The company announced the milestone on Twitter, sharing a picture of the production-ready vehicle surrounded by workers at its Gigafactory near Austin, Texas.

The Cybertruck is one of the most anticipated vehicles in Tesla’s lineup, as it represents the company’s entry into the lucrative electric pickup market. The truck features a striking design, with a stainless steel alloy exterior and a trapezoidal shape. It also boasts impressive performance and features, such as a range of up to 500 miles, a towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds, and a bulletproof body.

However, the Cybertruck has faced challenges and delays since its debut. The original prototype had a mishap during its unveiling when its supposedly unbreakable windows shattered after being hit by a metal ball. The production timeline was also pushed back several times, due to supply chain issues and other factors. Tesla initially said that production would begin in late 2021, but later revised it to late 2022. The company also said that volume production would not start until 2024.

Despite these setbacks, Tesla has made progress on the Cybertruck program, as evidenced by the latest update. The company said that it has been producing alpha versions of the truck and testing them in various conditions. It also said that the factory tooling and equipment installation for Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas are on track.

Tesla has not revealed when it will start delivering the Cybertruck to customers, but it has already received over one million reservations for the vehicle. It will compete with other electric pickups that are already on the market or coming soon, such as the Rivian R1T, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the GMC Hummer EV. These vehicles offer different designs, features, and price points, catering to different segments of the pickup market.

The Cybertruck is expected to have a significant impact on the EV industry and the pickup market, as it showcases Tesla’s innovation and vision for the future of transportation. The production of the first Cybertruck is a major milestone for Tesla and a sign of things to come.

Electrified Mag’s Take: Tesla has a history of breaking new ground in the electric vehicle market. In the early days, the company was able to get away with some flaws, such as quality control issues and software glitches. However, as Tesla has become more established, David has become Goliath with all the responsibility that comes with that. Car buyers now expect Tesla vehicles to be flawless, and any missteps will be met with more scrutiny.

I liken the Cybertruck to wearing a pair of alligator dress boots to a muddy construction site. I just can’t help thinking that hardcore truck guys won’t snicker as it pulls up to the job site.

The Cybertruck is at best a bold new product for Tesla or the latest version of the Model X’s overwrought Falcon doors. It is unclear whether the company will be able to deliver on all of its super truck promises. If the Cybertruck is not as in demand as Tesla claims, it could damage the company’s reputation, if it’s a success, it could solidify Tesla’s position as the leading electric vehicle manufacturer.

Lastly, unlike the last few years, the Cybertruck will wade into an arena full of seriously attractive competitors boasting huge dealer bodies, unwavering brand loyalty, and huge manufacturing footprints.  Stay tuned to Electrified Mag for all Cybertruck updates.
