How to Buy a Tesla Model 3 for Less Than $20,000 in California

If you are looking for a new electric car, many folks flock to the Tesla Model 3. This popular sedan offers great performance, range, and features, but it also comes with a fairly hefty price tag. However, if you live in California, you might be able to buy a Tesla Model 3 for less than half of its original cost, thanks to some generous incentives.

The base rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model 3 with 272 miles of EPA-estimated range and a 0-60 mph time of 5.8 seconds starts at $40,240. However, by using referral links and inventory discounts from the WaitingForTesla website, you can bring it down to $37,830.

But that’s not all. You can also take advantage of the federal tax credit that select electric cars qualify for. This credit is worth $7,500 and applies to vehicles that are made in the US, Mexico, or Canada and meet certain battery requirements. You also have to meet specific income eligibility criteria to claim this credit.

On top of that, you can also benefit from California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP), which offers rebates for buying or leasing eligible zero-emission vehicles. Depending on your income level, you can get either $2,000 or $7,500 from this program. To qualify, you have to be a California resident or have a business there.

If you add up these incentives, you can reduce the price of the Model 3 to $22,830 or even $15,330. But wait, there’s more. If you happen to live in the San Joaquin Valley district, you can get an additional $3,000 credit from the local air pollution control district for choosing a zero-emission vehicle. This means that you can potentially buy a Model 3 for as low as $12,330!

These incentives are not exclusive to Model 3. You can also apply them to other electric cars, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Bolt EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, and many others. However, some of these models may not qualify for the full federal tax credit or may have lower inventory discounts.

If you are interested in buying a Tesla Model 3 or any other electric car for a bargain price in California, you should act fast. These incentives may not last forever and may change depending on the availability of funds and the demand for electric vehicles. You should also check the eligibility requirements and application processes for each program before making a purchase.

Buying a Tesla Model 3 for less than $20,000 in California may sound too good to be true, but it is possible if you take advantage of all the incentives available. Not only will you save money upfront, but you will also enjoy lower maintenance and fuel costs over time. Plus, you will be doing your part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution by driving a zero-emission vehicle.
