Blue Innovations Group has launched its R30 electric boat. It’s a stunning 30-foot-long, 12-passenger, dual-motor masterpiece that punches out 800 horsepower. And, the Blue Innovations Group R30 e-boat is designed and manufactured in the state of Florida.

Blue Innovations Group is a Florida-based company founded by John Vo. Vo holds advanced engineering degrees from the University of Minnesota. He has an industry background in semiconductor, aerospace, solar energy, and electric vehicles. Additionally, experience in R&D, product development, and manufacturing. He created Blue Innovations Group in 2022. The company’s R-Class of boats range from 25-35 feet in length. The R30 is the flagship. The company’s second generation of boats will be the F-Class. These vessels will be free from traditional energy sources and allow for travel on the water for weeks with sustainable energy from the wind and sun. Finally, the L-Class will be a modular floating SmartHome that can spend months on the water. The L-Class will be self-sustaining for “water-based civilization.”

R30 Batteries, Charging, and Power

The 10,000-pound, 30-foot-long R30 is powered by a 221 kWh battery that is engineered specifically for efficiency on the water. The battery offers a 6-8 hour nominal runtime and a maximum range of 100 miles. The battery supports 350 kW fast charging, delivering 4 hours of runtime in a 40-minute charge. The R30 also has a 15 kW onboard charger and an expandable solar canopy capable of producing 2.8 kW. The solar canopy can provide up to a 50 percent charge in one week. Blue Innovations Group says one night of home or marina shore power will provide an 80 percent charge. Power is sent to dual inboard motors that spin twin props. All total, the system generates 800 hp and a top speed of 45 mph.

Everything, Including the Kitchen Sink

The R30 has an aluminum deep V monohull and a capacity of 12 passengers. The boat has folding “ocean terraces” located port, starboard, and aft. Designed for optimal deck space, the ocean terraces offer individual control. Quite simply, they can be deployed to create more general space or to accommodate a larger group on board. There’s also an integrated submerged step for water access. The boat’s climate-controlled cabin offers sleeping space for a small family or it can serve as an office or entertainment room. And yes, there’s a kitchenette featuring a fridge, sink, and cooktop. Additionally, the R30 offers a bathroom with bidet. At the helm there’s yoke steering and a dual-display user interface. The interface includes an instrument cluster, chart plotter, and media center. Over-the-air updates keep everything up to date.

But Wait There’s More

Other features of the R30 include a front lounge, front cabin hatch, 360 degree camera system, ample storage, and outdoor dinette. Finally, three exterior and three interior colors are available for the R30. “The R30 was designed from scratch. We threw out the playbook most boatbuilders follow because if you squint your eyes at a boat show, most boats look the same,” said Vo. “The R in R30 stands for Revolution, we decided to offer something radically different, radically better.”

When Do Deliveries Begin?

If you’re drooling over the R30 you’ll be happy to know that deliveries will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. The estimated purchase price is $345,000. If you place a $5,000 reservation, called the BIG reservation, you’ll get one of the first 100 R30s. There’s also a BLUE $1,000 reservation. After the first 100 boats, 50 percent of production capacity will be split between BIG and BLUE reservations. The R30 has a two-year bow-to-stern warranty and a five-year propulsion warranty.
