Ram’s First Available Fully Electric Vehicle Is The ProMaster EV Van

Today, Ram introduced its all-new, all-electric, ProMaster EV van. It’s notable for several reasons, including that it’s the Ram brand’s first available fully electrified vehicle.

Ram ProMaster EV Van is Designed Specifically for Electrification

The Ram ProMaster EV will initially offer two configurations: the delivery model and two cargo models. The cargo model will come in either a 12-foot cargo length or an extended 13-foot cargo length. The vans are built on the ProMaster architecture but designed specifically for electrification. Example: they feature a unibody design that incorporates the battery pack efficiently. The battery is positioned under the floor in the center of the vehicle. This design maintains a flat floor while cargo volume is unchanged from ICE vehicles. Eventually, the ProMaster EV will be available in five configurations.

Battery and Charging Info

The ProMaster EV has a standard 110 kWh battery pack. This helps to provide up to a 162-mile range in city driving. For comparison, the 2023 Ford e-Transit low roof cargo van has a demonstrated range of 126 miles. The 2024 Rivian Commercial Van Delivery 500 has an estimated range of 161 miles. Powering the ProMaster EV is a 200 kWh electric drive module that delivers 268 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. The van has level 3 DC fast charging options of 50 kW, 85 kW, 125 kW and 150 kW. A level 2 wall box charger with up to 11 kW is available. The ProMaster EV has a charge port that illuminates while the vehicle is charging. Additionally, it has an audible sound alert to confirm the connection.

Features of the ProMaster EV Van

The new front-wheel-drive ProMaster EV is equipped with a 159-inch wheelbase. It has an extended super-high-roof model and offers amenities such as a heated steering wheel and heated windshield. Additional safety and security features include Park Sense with stop, a white noise backup alarm, and a “normal” backup alarm. A cool feature of the Ram ProMaster EV delivery vehicle is an available rear roll-up door. Constructed with anodized aluminum, the roll-up door prioritizes weight optimization and durability to withstand heavy use. Additionally, the van comes standard with a pocket door, facilitating easy ingress and egress during deliveries. Van buyers prioritize cargo-handling capability, and the ProMaster EV offers best-in-class features. These include 524 cubic feet of cargo space, a standard interior cargo height of 86 inches, a low load-floor height, cargo width between wheel wells, and maximum cargo width.

Technology on Tap

The ProMaster EV is loaded with technology. It offers a Charging Station Locator to find an EV charging station when energy levels are low. The EV Dynamic Trip Prediction increases driver confidence. It provides projected and actual modeled discharge profiles, indicating the percentage of battery discharge relative to overall capacity. There’s also Uconnect 5, which features a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen. It has split-screen capability and content from SiriusXM with 360L. This system is five times faster than its predecessor and includes Wi-Fi capability with support for up to five individual user profiles.

Outstanding Visibility for the Driver

Ram says large-van customers have consistently requested improved visibility around the vehicle. ProMaster addresses this with a standard high-resolution backup camera featuring dynamic grid lines. The digital rearview mirror, available on all ProMaster models, displays real-time video from a rear-facing camera in all driving modes. It can be turned off to revert to a traditional reflective mirror, providing an unobstructed rear view. Additionally, ProMaster offers an extra safety and security feature—the 360-degree Surround View camera. This system provides bird’s-eye views of the vehicle and its surroundings, enhanced by dynamic grid lines displayed on a 10.1-inch digital touchscreen.

Upfitter Friendly

Ram Commercial is known for its upfitter-friendly offerings, and it continues that tradition with the ProMaster EV. It features a standard upfitter electrical connector and an integrated cab configuration, facilitating easy upfitter/conversion solutions. The ProMaster’s design emphasizes adaptability, with virtually all primary vehicle systems packaged forward of the cargo area. The unique front-drive system, body-integral construction, and multiple available configurations make the ProMaster EV suitable for upfitting to meet almost any commercial need. Additionally, it has the most vertically oriented sidewalls (nearly 90 degrees in relation to the cargo compartment floor) and a best-in-class cargo width of 75.6 inches.

Availability

The Ram ProMaster EV delivery model is available now. The non-delivery/cargo model will have later delivery.
