If you’re wanting to ditch your gas-powered riding lawn mower and go full electric, Exmark is bringing a brand-new unit to market in 2024 that you’ll want to see. It’s the Quest V-Series and it’s not only a rider, but also a zero-turn. Here’s a look at the new Exmark Quest V-Series.
A Residential Mower with Commercial Features
The Exmark V-Series is a residential mower that boasts commercial features and performance. The electric drivetrain and 42-inch Electric Series 2 cutting deck provide instant torque. Bonus: The system eliminates all belt-related maintenance. The mower is fitted with four 10-amp Flex-Force batteries that provide 60 minutes of runtime. And the Quest V-Series is designed to accept up to a pair of additional batteries. Charging is handled via a 60V 6-Pod Charger. Specifically, this 12-amp rapid charger enables you to charge up to six batteries at one time. Sequential rapid mode lets you charge a single 10 Ah battery to full charge in just 50 minutes. Standard mode steadily brings all batteries to full charge in unison. When in use, the Quest V-Series’ onboard intelligence balances and optimizes power, runtime, and overload protection in real time. This provides peak performance in even the most gnarly mowing conditions.
Low Center of Gravity, Large Tires, and More
The Quest V-Series has a low center of gravity, large 18 x 7.5-8 Turf Tech TL drive and 11 x 4.0-5 smooth-tread pneumatic caster tires, and a comfortable 16-inch high-back adjustable seat. Furthermore, there’s increased legroom for the operator. Additionally, a standard deck step eases mounting and dismounting of the mower. And maintenance of the mower is minimal thanks to the electric powertrain, integrated hydro transmissions, and just two grease points. The Quest V-Series frame is a unibody design made from riveted 10-gauge steel. Steering control features include hydraulically dampened twin levers that are adjustable fore and aft. There’s also two-position height adjustment.
Low Noise and a 42-inch Adjustable Deck
As you’d expect, the Quest V-Series electric mower has a lower noise output. Exmark says it operates below the 85dB threshold that OSHA uses for hearing protection. This makes the mower ideal for HOAs and other quiet zones. The mower’s drive is a General Transmission EZ 2000, and the mower has infinitely variable speed selection from 0-7 mph forward and 0-3.5 mph reverse. The 42-inch floating mowing deck is lifted via a hand lever. The deck uses 10-gauge formed and welded steel for the top, 12-gauge steel for the side skirt, and 7-gauge welded steel for the bumper. Furthermore, it also has a three-point suspension. Moreover, the deck offers cutting heights of 1.5 to 4.5 inches in 0.50-inch increments. The Quest V-Series has a width of 53.8 inches, a length of 75 inches, and a height of 45.6 inches. It’s curb weight is 475 pounds.
Standard Features, Optional Features
More standard features on the Exmark Quest-V Series include forward-facing lights, an hour meter, cup holder and trailer hitch. Optional features include seat armrests, an LED light kit, anti-blowout kit, deck foot lift assist, and a rollover protection system. Finally, there’s also an optional sunshade, micro-mulch system, additional batteries, a weight kit, slope sensor kit, and a two-bag collection system.
The Bottom Line
Overall, electric riding mowers are coming on strong, with new models being introduced by several manufacturers at a fast rate. If you’re looking to defect from your gas mower, riders like the Exmark Quest V-Series are worth a look.
