Apocalypse Nirvana: The Rivian Truck’s Rowdy Cousin

Share this:

It’s almost 7 feet tall, punches out 850 hp, rolls on 38-inch-diameter mud-terrain tires, does 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, and has a look that’ll make you look twice. It’s the Apocalypse Nirvana EV and it’s the latest creation from a company that has cemented its reputation building head-turning, functional trucks.

Apocalypse Manufacturing is On a Roll

Florida-based Apocalypse Manufacturing  is on a roll. The 15-year-old company is well known for its 6×6 creations like the Dark Horse, Doomsday, Hellfire, Juggernaut, Sinister6, and Warlord. Apocalypse has also made its mark with many other non-6×6 creations including the Super Truck and a GMC Hummer EV. The company has delivered over 140 of its creations and they roam the U.S. and several countries. Apocalypse was featured on the big screen in Paramount’s “The Lost City.” Further, NBA star Luka Doncic was on live TV driving his Apocalypse 6×6. Additionally, an Apocalypse covered 3,000 miles in the Gumball 3000 race. Fun fact: The Apocalypse Nirvana EV is the first Rivian that the company has worked on. It’s another instance of Apocalypse Manufacturing showing it isn’t shy about exploring all powerplant options.

Apocalypse Nirvana EV Beastly Bodywork

A Nirvana owner will probably never struggle to remember where their truck is parked. Just look for the crowd. Part of that is due to the custom bodywork. And creating the bodywork was no easy task. Thickness is critical and all the Rivian’s technology, like cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and radar units, were retained and positioned correctly. Out back the wheel openings were enlarged while up front the stock fenders were replaced with custom units that have larger wheel openings. The larger wheel openings ensure that the big 38×15.5R20LT mud-terrain tires on 12-inch-wide Fuel wheels could travel without contacting the truck’s body. The front bumper and hood are custom made. A custom Kevlar material is used for the Nirvana’s finish and it helps protect the truck from scratches and rust. As a bonus it’s said to be easy to clean.

Custom Computer-Controlled Suspension

Underneath the truck is a dynamic computer-controlled suspension system that lifts the vehicle 7 inches. This custom suspension system retains the function of the Rivian‘s air suspension but adds increased clearance. The suspension required a significant amount of modification, including custom spindles, control arms, and front axleshafts.

Rollcage, Skidplates, and Side Steps

The Apocalypse Nirvana sports several other features. There’s a hand-made rollcage and front and rear skidplates to protect the underbody when traveling off-road. There’s also a pair of custom side steps that protect the rocker panels off-road while assisting with passenger ingress and egress.

Fast, Powerful, and Torque-Laden

Joseph Ghattas is the Founder and CEO of Apocalypse Manufacturing and its sister company, South Florida Customs, also known as SoFlo Customs. Ghattas says that initially he had a bit of hesitation regarding using an EV for Nirvana. However, the Rivian quickly put his mind at rest. “Plainly stated, people have opinions when it comes to electric vehicles, so I had my apprehensions about Apocalypse tackling a project of this derision, but I honestly fell in love with this vehicle from the first time I sat behind the steering wheel. It’s fast, with raging power and teeth-clenching torque, so really, I wanted to give it the look it deserved to match the powerplant. Make it big, with a lift that works with the original equipment provided, so that’s what we did, and I feel this vehicle represents our dedication to redefining the concept of luxury off-road super trucks.”

The Bottom Line

The Apocalypse Nirvana has a range of almost 350 miles and a max towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. Its look commands attention and it offers improved off-road prowess. The cost for all of these things? Pricing starts at $150,000 (vehicle included).
