Buzzed Van Life: Alpin Camper’s VW ID. Buzz “Westfalia”

A German company called Alpin Camper has created the first camper conversion for the VW ID. Buzz, the electric successor of the iconic Volkswagen Bus. The ID. Buzz Camper was presented at a tourism and leisure show in Stuttgart, Germany, and it looks like a great way to enjoy a zero-emission road trip.

The exterior of the ID. Buzz camper is mostly unchanged from the standard model, except for a small front bumper guard and a pop-up roof tent. The paint scheme is white with black accents, giving it a clean and modern look.

The interior is where the magic happens. Alpin Camper has installed a cozy living space with a long bench that converts into a double bed. There is also a small kitchen area with an electric water heater and a fridge. All the materials used are eco-friendly and colorful, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere.

The roof tent does not provide extra sleeping space, but rather more headroom and ventilation for the camper. Alpin Camper says that a future version of the ID .Buzz might have a sleeping option on the roof as well. The electric components for the living space are cleverly hidden under the passenger seat, leaving more room for storage.

The ID. Buzz camper uses the same electric drivetrain as the regular model, which means it has a single motor with 201 hp (150 kW) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque. A dual-motor version with more power and all-wheel drive is expected to arrive soon.

Volkswagen has also confirmed that it is working on an official camper version of the ID. Buzz, called the ID. California, which will be based on the U.S.-bound, long-wheelbase variant of the electric bus. However, it will not be available until 2025 at the earliest.

If you are looking for an electric camper van that you can buy sooner than that, you might want to check out Alpin Camper’s ID. Buzz conversion. It offers functionality and comfort in a compact and stylish package.
