The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck: A Testament To Innovation

The SuperTruck is based on Ford’s best-selling electric pickup. It’s a performance-oriented machine that has been meticulously engineered to tackle the daunting 12.5-mile uphill course of Pikes Peak. The vehicle serves as a rolling testbed for Ford. Advancing research and development in areas such as motors, inverters, and battery packs. Insights gained from this rigorous testing will enhance Ford’s production vehicles and future race programs.

Co-Developed With STARD

Ford partnered with STARD Advanced Research and Development to build the SuperTruck. Its aerodynamic features are designed to achieve 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph, crucial for its efforts at Pikes Peak. This collaboration highlights Ford’s commitment to leveraging expertise from various fields. The result is a vehicle that is not only powerful but also capable of precise handling in challenging conditions

Experienced Pilot

Romain Dumas, the current overall record holder of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, will be behind the wheel of the SuperTruck. His experience and skill make him the perfect candidate to navigate the treacherous turns and steep inclines of the mountain.

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is part of Ford’s broader electric demonstrator program, which includes vehicles like the Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800 and Mustang Mach-E 1400. These programs are instrumental in advancing Ford’s understanding of battery cell chemistry, heat generation, cooling, and other critical aspects of EV technology.

Ford’s Reentry Into Formula 1

In addition to its efforts at Pikes Peak, Ford is expanding its knowledge of hybrid powertrains through its reentry into Formula 1 in 2026. This partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing is another step in Ford’s journey toward automotive excellence.

The Future Of Ford Performance

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is a clear indication of Ford’s dedication to innovation and performance. As the company continues to develop its Ford+ plan. It focuses on growth and value creation, the SuperTruck stands as a symbol of what’s possible when passion meets technology.
