Gateway Bronco Electric Vehicle Spotted At Barrett-Jackson

Gateway Bronco shows off their latest Ford Bronco Electric Vehicle at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction. Gateway Bronco is a builder of custom Ford Broncos and now has an all-electric four-wheel drive Ford Bronco called the LUXE-GT. These trucks are built on a Ford chassis with numerous modifications. The range for this electric Ford Bronco is over 300 miles, does 0 – 60 mph in under five seconds,  and has over 400 horsepower. What a beast!

Restomods

Restomods are taking an old model car and rebuilding it with new components to create the best of the old and new. Gateway Bronco starts out with a 1970-style Ford Bronco with all new parts – new seats, new suspension, top-of-the line tires, and of course the electric motor and powertrain. It gives the old-style look with all of the modern performance and comfort from today’s vehicles.

EV Powertrain

Not only the engine is electric, but so is the powertrain. The powertrain is completely computer-controlled. With a push of a button, you can change from highway cruising mode to rocking the off-road mountain trails. The suspension is built to match the rest of the specifications.

Maintenance on the EV Powertrain is almost non-existent. You charge it, turn it on and it goes. You shut it off, recharge the source batteries and repeat the process. Just the same as your other electronic devices.

Features

The Gateway Bronco Electric Vehicle comes fully loaded with leather dash, leather console cover, and high-back seats. The vehicle comes with a large-screen display for your GPS, music, and phone-integration needs. A different feature is a rearview camera that you see in your mirror.

The shock absorbers are proprietary and are actively controlled. Suspension can be changed with a switch of a button; there are three modes available – normal, comfort, or sport.

Downsides

The biggest downside to this vehicle is the price – $270,000 to over $350,000 depending on the configuration. The highly prized Gateway custom vehicles are mostly hand-built and have expensive components. At some point in the future, EVs will be more mainstream and the prices will start to drop, but to get a Gateway Bronco such as this, you are still looking at six figures.

Another disadvantage is the range of around 300 miles. Unless you carefully plan a long trip you could be running out of juice along the way. Currently the country’s infrastructure is not built up for long-range EVs but in time they will be.

Partners for the Gateway Bronco Electric Vehicle

Gateway Bronco is licensed by Ford Motor Company. They are always searching for the best partners to build their vehicles. From engines, to powertrains, to suspension, wheels and tires, and more Gateway Ford will bring in the best partners to build the perfect Ford Bronco.

The electric conversion kit is built by Legacy EV, the vehicle comes with a Kincer chassis, JRi Shocks and suspension, Wilwood brakes, and custom 18″ wheels with Toyo 33-inch tires.

Final Thoughts

It is great to see the car manufacturers embracing first electric cars and now trucks and other off-road vehicles. In just a few years we will see an explosion of new electric vehicles with longer ranges, cheaper batteries, and an infrastructure to support it.

It appears that Gateway Bronco with their design, engineering and manufacturing will lead the way for the off-road enthusiast to switch to all-electric vehicles.
